About WHCHC and Sierra Bonita Apartments

WHCHC builds, rehabilitates, and manages affordable housing for people with limited incomes.

Designed for people with Special Needs, Sierra Bonita contains 42 one bedroom residential apartments, each approximately 620 square feet. An outdoor courtyard atrium provides a garden for residents from which access to the units is provided. Each apartment has its own private outdoor space(80 sq ft) with designated storage room, laundry facilities, community room, additional common areas for the residents and their guests, and other support spaces.

Project architect is Patrick Tighe, winner of the prestigious Rome Prize for Architecture. Tighe designed Sierra Bonita as a pilot project for West Hollywood’s Green Building Ordinance, using many environmentally conscious strategies for sustainability. The landscaping was designed to enhance the outdoor experience of the residents, as well as that of the surrounding neighborhoods, businesses and the West Hollywood Community at large.

Sierra Bonita Apartments is the first all-affordable mixed-use project in the East Side Redevelopment Area in the City of West Hollywood. A portion of the ground floor commercial area will accommodate WHCHC’s new offices.
