Moving in!

The first residents of Westmore Linden are signing their leases, getting their keys, and moving in. Located in the Koreatown/Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles, this beautiful new building has 93 units of affordable housing for low-income seniors, with 15 units for formerly homeless seniors. The joy and relief are palpable. Soon Resident Services Coordinators will meet with residents to asses their needs, link them to additional resources, develop individualized service plans, and design a curriculum of lifelong learning workshops to be offered, free of charge, at the building. We’re very excited to welcome everyone home. Stay tuned for information on the grand opening celebration.

Julio Paz, Resident Services Coordinator, and Warrior!
Julio Paz has been a WHCHC Resident Services Coordinator for two years. In December, Julio was honored by the City of West Hollywood with a Paul Starke Warrior Award. These awards honor employees and volunteers of local agencies who have done exemplary work in providing prevention, education and direct HIV/AIDS services. "I’ve been working with people living with HIV/AIDS for a little over eight years now," said Julio. "I’ve assisted residents with everything from basic tasks like completing an application to crisis intervention for someone who has attempted suicide. The one thing that remains true is no matter the situation the resident’s needs are the priority."
And coming up... Wetherly Palms

In November WHCHC began meeting with community members about our newest affordable apartment community, Wetherly Palms. Located in West Hollywood's Norma Triangle neighborhood, Wetherly Palms will house the "missing middle." Also known as workforce housing, these units target workers who would otherwise be priced-out of West Hollywood. Approximately 80% of the people employed in West Hollywood commute in each day. By locating housing near jobs, Wetherly Palms reduces traffic and congestion, addressing a quality of life issue that impacts everyone. With design still in the early stages (two conceptual options below), we are gathering input and want to hear from you! Please email info@whchc.org to find out more.
