Our Community Stays Connected

While service delivery may be different, WHCHC's commitment to supporting our residents remains the same. Just take our Resident Services Coordinator Eric, for example -- like all of our RSCs, Eric continues to use multiple channels to communicate with and support our 925 residents, including Blue Hibiscus resident, Greg. Shown in the photo below, you'll see Greg and Eric are all smiles, enjoying their time video chatting. Though things have changed, our community partners continue their support. We are thankful to work with them to help residents stay housed and stay connected.

CAReS Cares
Most WHCHC residents live on a fixed income, so making ends meet can be a challenge even in the best of times. When a care package of basic necessities arrived, Maria, an 85-year-old Detroit Senior Apartment community resident, knew there were people looking out for her. The very generous donation of food and toiletries was delivered by a new program called “Community Assistance Resource Service of Los Angeles Leather Coalition” – a.k.a. “CAReS”. The donation included items such as toothpaste, tissues, soap, bread, pasta, and more. This new initiative is a direct response to those facing difficult times due to Covid-19, and we're thankful for how it helps take care of residents. Let’s hear it for “CAReS” and WHCHC RSCs for coordinating this delivery and supporting residents during this time.
Seeds of Hope at the Door
Many residents have expressed how grateful they are for the amazing “Seeds of Hope” produce delivery. Seeds of Hope has worked with our RSCs and Building Managers to adapt to a new delivery model, while making sure that our residents, many who are food insecure, are able to continue to receive fresh produce. This team delivers boxes of fruits and vegetables right to the doors of all WHCHC community residents, each Monday, at a different property. In early July, the deliveries kicked off the summer at Movietown Square, with boxes containing potatoes, apples, carrots, peaches and honeydew melon. The residents raved about the amazing produce quality. "Thanks once again for looking out for so many people," said Harper Community resident, Anthony. "Your response and your services are greatly appreciated here." Thank you, Seeds of Hope, our Resident Services Coordinators, and our Building Managers, for this “well balanced” act of good!
